M2M 2018 - Cheque Presentation

On Thursday evening August 30th, the crew who completed M2M 2018 gathered in the club house to present the cheques to the 2 beneficiaries  - BCI and Kilmacud Crokes.  It was a great evening which brought back the memories of the cycle which was completed at the start of June,  just a few months ago.   Liam O’ Carroll chairman of the M2M committee opened the evening and outlined the format.  We all sang Happy Birthday to Mick Hynes, again !!!! Liam introduced Míchéal Mullin - our committee treasurer who gave us the fantastic news that each beneficiary would receive over 76,000 euro each as a result of the efforts of the cyclists and support crew who completed the event.  Professor Arnie Hill spoke to us on the progress the research into the disease is making and how important fund raising events like ours were to continuing the research in this area.  He also expressed his hope to complete the whole cycle in M2M 2020.  We were all humbled to listen to a contribution from Orla Byrne who is currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer and spoke to us about the real life impact of clinical trials for breast cancer patients.  Orla’s strength and determination was an inspiration and we wish her well for an ongoing and sustained recovery. Jeanne Mc Cann spoke to the gathering about Nissan’s delight at continuing to be the key sponsor for the event. Kevin Foley our Kilmacud Crokes club chairman addressed the group and outlined some of the areas in the development of the club where the funds raised will be used – including a proposed gym and shop expansion projects.  The evening was wrapped up by Hugh, Liam and Paul with a presentation of certs to the cyclists for completing the event.  A big thank you to all the cyclists and support crew who took part in M2M 2018. Thanks also to Mick Kinsella and his staff for laying on the refreshments for the evening. Also to Frances Mullin for the excellent photo collage she put together for the evening – brought back such great memories of a fantastic event.
