Movember 2016 - The Big Shave Off Thursday December 1st

Well this Dublin V Mayo classic lived up to the earlier classics during the year.   Gerry Greene (Bomber) and Mick Durcan arrived down in the club on Thursday night with their supporters for the final measurement and shave off. Gemma Mulligan was on hand to act as judge.  Anthony and Adam were there from The Hill barbers to complete the shave off. And just like the earlier classics between Dublin and Mayo, this one  went right to the wire and included late drama.  As Mick Durcan was to be declared the winner, Kevin Mulligan took a late phone call for a late entry.   Cathal Thorton of our adult footballers who it seemed had only been growing his moustache for a week entered the competition.    Mick and Bomber looked really worried!!!!  In the end, Cathal stood aside and the bragging rights were awarded to Mick Durcan of Mayo.  Per convention, the lads swapped jerseys!!!!! On a serious note,, the lads  sense of good fun and being great club men raised over 1700 euro ( cheque in photo just for offline donations)  for the Irish cancer society and also more importantly brought the topic of men’s health to the fore in the club.  A big note of thanks to Mick and Bomber for being good sports, Kevin Mulligan for coming up with the idea, Frances Mullin for all the photos, Adam and Anthony from the Hill Barbers for supporting the event, John McClave from Bank of Ireland for his support, Paul Gallagher of Sattal for the posters and Cathal Thorton for being such good fun.
