Crokes advance to Dublin SFC semi v Ballyboden

Following a tremendous battle with a young and sprightly Ballymun side, our boys progressed to the semi-finals on a scoreline of 2-8 to 1-10  For a report on tonight's match click on this link

The football was most engaging from start to finish in a top class game.  However, the most entertaining moment of the night came when Captain Fantastic, Johnny Magee, prepared to enter the fray in the 2nd half.  As Johnny warmed up a wag in the crowd felt obliged to hurtle some lighthearted abuse in his direction.  In a spontaneous Christy Moore-esque moment, and to the hilarity of most present, Johnny immediately responded in a very audible voice: "Sir, may I enquire as to where YOUR medal is" (or words to that effect!!!).  Nuff said!!

Speaking of Johnny, who will forget his memorable display in the 2004 final against Ballyboden soon after his altercation in the National Stadium with a certain Quentin Haan?  As luck would have it, the draw for this year's semi-finals, which followed tonight's victory, resulted in the Southside titans being paired against each other once again!  Ballyboden, chasing their first Dublin title since 1995, defeated a fancied Lucan team, our 1st round conquerers, in a most impressive display tonight.  Both semis will be staged in two weeks time on 2/3rd October in Parnell Park.
