On Monday July 29th shed a group of KCMS members led by the intrepid Brian Hollinshead completed a walk from Ringsend to Donnybrook mostly along the river Dodder. The group got the 47 Bus after 10.30 am from Stillorgan Village Shopping centre to Ringsend.  They visited  the Ropewalk, Sites of the now historic Liffey, Dodder and Grand Canal Ferries and  the present Liffey Tunnel.  From there, they walked  along the Dodder to RAY TOWN Mens Shed where we were invited to stop by for a cup of tea and some chat. It was then on to Donnybrook Church and bus back to Stillorgan. In Ballsbridge we got to call in and see the Pembrooke Town Hall building.  We learnt about the history of the Ropewalk, where the name Raytown came from and about the tunnel across the Liffey - Liffey Service Tunnel - Wikipedia  Many thanks to Brian for once again leading a fantastic walk, doing the research and providing the education along the route  and also to the lads in Raytown Men's shed for the hospitality.
