Minors triumph - and other weekend news, 18 Nov 07
Week Ending 18th November 2007
11th Minor “A” County
The eagerly awaited replay of the Dublin Minor “A” Hurling final between Crokes and Na Fianna took place on Sunday 18th November in Parnell Park at 12.00
Having got out of jail two weeks ago the Crokes lads exploded out of blocks. Never led they built up a half time lead of 1-6 to 0-2 and despite a rocky period in the first 15 minutes of the second half were good value for their 1-11 to 0-5 win.
In annexing the trophy Crokes added to previous victories in 1929-1935 (Crokes), 1960 (Dalcassians), 1985 (Kilmacud Crokes) and 1998 (Kilmacud Crokes).

Success for Oatlands College
On Tuesday Oatlands College had a nail biting win in the Dublin Senior B hurling final over Clonkeen College in Parnell Park. The former side was Crokes dominated, including a number of players who featured in Sunday’s minor final, while Clonkeen also had a Crokes representation.
The winners were well ahead at half time, 2-8 to 1-1 but Clonkeen, thanks to a magnificent second period performance, reeled them in to make it 4-7 to 3-10 at the end of ordinary time. Oatlands led 4-12 to 4-8 at the interval in extra time and ran out 5-15 to 5-10 winners. Congratulations to the management team led by Tom O’Dwyer, the players and all involved. Check later for pending report.
