Brilliant Intermediates comeback

Top of the bill was the magnificent display of the Intermediate team in overturning a seven point half time deficit to register a one point victory over Trinity Gaels in their opening round robin championship game on Tuesday 6th May in Silverpark.

This was a performance based on grit, determination and shrewd tactical changes by the management.  Crokes endured a torrid opening half.  Defying the odds a revitalised Kilmacud team took the game to their opponents in the second half and Trinity Gaels could only manage a single point to the homesters 1-6 (the goal coming from Barrai Brennan).  This left Crokes triumphant by the minimum.  Thankfully Traolach O’Sullivan is on the mend from his unfortunate hand injury suffered in the early stages of the game

Team:

R Sweetnam, Aidan McCarthy, D. Canny, M. Garvey, E. Sheehy, F. Monnelly, R. Walsh, B Brennan, M. Dalton,   K. Dalton, E. Fingleton, B. Mahon, T. O’Sulllivan, Brendan Hoyne , K. Dalton. Subs; Joe O’Reilly for T. O'Sullivan (inj) (9 mins)

Under 14’s reach Féile Final

On Saturday the under 14’s were put to the pin of their collar before emerging with a 2-7 to 1-6 Feile semi-final victory over St Judes in Tymon Park.  Judes were first to score.  Crokes then went into a two point to one lead.  Subsequent pressure failed to increase the margin.  The home team got the fillip of a goal in the fourteenth minute and then added a point.  Crokes pegged a minor back and on the stroke of half time a well finished Cian Gormley goal put Crokes back in front.  Judes were level shortly after the resumption.  Each time the Kilmacud boys edged ahead Judes pulled them back.  With four minutes remaining Crokes were two points to the good.  St Judes brought it to 1-6 each.  Into injury time a goal from Neil Gorey and a pointed free from Oisin O’Rorke were enough to secure victory.  The final is fixed for Parnell Park at 5pm on Saturday 17th May against Ballyboden who overcame Na Fianna in the other semi final.

Earlier in the week, Tuesday, the under 14A’s overcame Cuala by 4-3 to 3-2 in a league tie.  The same evening the under 14B’s defeated Clontarf in Oatlands College by 6-2 to 2-5.

Crokes on the Road

On Sunday four underage teams were in action.  In Division 3 South the second minor team went to McGee Park to take on St Marks and came away with a good 2-12 to 2-9 victory.  Two under 11 teams and the under 16’s went to Kilkenny city.  The under 16’s prevailed over O’Loughlin Gaels by 4-13 to 3-11 while the under 11’s played James Stephens.  Many thanks to our host clubs for their hospitality
