Under 16s win Quarter Final clash with Crumlin

The under 16’s travelled to Pearse Park for their delayed quarter final against Crumlin, who had defeated them in an earlier league encounter.  This was a game that Crokes never looked like losing even if it was level, 0-5 apiece, at half time.  With Sean Garvey, Garry Melican, Darren Lawlor, Jude Sweeney, Alex Pilkington and Dillon Mulligan to the fore the Stillorgan boys motored on in the second half and emerged 0-14 to 0-7 winners.  Next up are Ballyboden in the semi-final, possibly in two weeks time.  For match report click HERE

Hurling Nursery Resumes

On Saturday morning the Hurling Nursery resumed in the unusual setting of UCD’s all-weather pitch in Belfield and many thanks to the College authorities for facilitating us.  Some 140 boys from seven downwards took part, with 50 making their maiden appearance.  The Nursery will continue every Saturday for the next month or two before transferring indoors.  For more information see ?link

Under 14s beat Na Fianna

Elsewhere there was plenty of Saturday underage action.  The under 14’s had a 2-15 to 1-6 league win over Na Fianna in Silverpark, having led 0-11 to 0-1 at the break.  Among the more prominent were Conor Devins, Oisin O’Rorke, Matthew Geraghty, Neil Gorey, Conor J O’Dwyer and Mark Collins.

Under 12s Action

Three under 12 teams were in action.  The A’s and C’s hosted St Vincents and Clanna Gael respectively in Deerpark.  Having led by a single point at the interval the A’s (13 a side) pulled away in the second half with star performances from Sean Crowe, Ryan Murphy, Peter Herlihy, Eamonn Allen and Michael Crowley and ran out 6-14 to 5-5 winners.

The under 12C’s game followed a similar path with the sides level, 1-0 each, at half time and Crokes pulling away in the second half to win 7-6 to 2-0.  There were outstanding performances from two goal, Shane Vallom, Ruairi Geraghty, whose move to midfield was crucial, Cian Fahey, Fionn Donnelly, Hubert Barry and Cian Montague.

More under age action

For the under 10’s it was also a case of bi-location.  One squad travelled to Wexford for the Gorey Tournament and with five games under their belt lost the Shield final to Ballyguner.  The other squad took part in a blitz in Ballyboden, losing their games to Ballyboden and Cuala.  It was a weekend off for the under 9’s while the three team under 8 squad played Castleknock, winning 17-7 (aggregate score).  Their two team counterparts overcame St Judes 13-4 (aggregate score)

Seniors beat O’Tooles

On Sunday the seniors continued their championship preparations with a 0-18 to 0-16 challenge win over O’Tooles in Blunden Drive.  O’Tooles were missing a number of regulars and several of their team had played football championship the day before.  Notwithstanding this they made the early pace and led 0-9 to 0-8 at the short whistle.  A better second half display won it for Crokes for whom Richie Sweetnam, Willie Ryan Rory O’Caroll, Neil Casey and Conor Clinton, when switched to half back in the second half played best.

U15s beat Faughs in Semi Final

While the seniors were away the under 15’s had a convincing championship semi-final win over Faughs at Silverpark.  The Kilmacud boys ended the first instalment 4-6 to 1-2 ahead and did not let up in the second half, eventually winning 5-16 to 1-5.  With three first half goals full forward Keith Finn was star of the show.  He was ably assisted by Emmet Doherty, Ross McGowan, Alex Pilkington, Oisin O’Rorke and Jamie Clinton.  Castleknock await in the county final.

Team: P Tighe, C Delaney, S Boyd, C O’Dwyer, O O’Carroll, E Doherty, R Murphy, A Plikington, R McGowan, F Motherway, KJ McGowan, O O’Rorke, J Cassidy, K Finn, J Clinton.  Subs: N Carr for O O’Carroll, K Kelly for F Motherway, J Huban for O O’Rorke, C O’Neill for K Finn, N Hanley for C O’Dwyer, J O’Brien, C Sweeny

Under 13 victorious in Crannford

Tragic death of Niamh Kane

The weekend for the under 13’s and for the club generally was put in perspective with the tragic loss following an accident of Niamh Kane, mother of under 13 player, Michael.  We wish to extend our sincere sympathies to the bereaved.
