Ladies Football U15 - Championship
Sep 1st Kilmacud Crokes U15 A 4-9 v Castleknock A 3-12.
This Div 1 Group B championship match took place in a sunny and very warm Somerton in Castleknock. Kilmacud got off to a great start with an early goal to help settle in well. Points were exchanged before Castleknock goaled and went into the lead. Kilmacud responded with another goal and Castleknock had their second goal to retake the lead. Despite the very hot conditions the play was end to end with very little separating the teams at any point. Great football being played by both teams with both teams giving 100% commitment. A very welcomed break in play allowed for a much needed water break. Kilmacud goaled again before half time and went into the break leading 3-7 to 2-6. On the restart Castleknock pointed four times without reply and the teams were again level. Kilmacud scored a couple of points and a well worked goal to go 5 in front with 10 minutes left to play. Castleknock duly responded with a goal and with the clock ticking down into injury time Castleknock hit two points to level the match. Full credit to both sets of players for an enthralling game, both sets of supporters commended the high level of skill and commitment from both teams for serving up a very entertaining game of football. While both teams had their chances to win the game, all in all a draw is probably the fairest result in the end. Well done to both teams.
