In his address Chairman Tom Barry complimented the Hurling Committee members for their hard work and noted there was universal praise for the support and resourcing the committee put at the disposal of teams during the year. He singled out the minors for their fantastic triumph and for their trail blazing series of wins that included the 2005 National Feile na nGael and successive Dublin under 14, 15, 16 and minor championship wins. On behalf of the club he thanked all who had contributed over the years in particular the stand out manager Pat Halpin. The chairman also complimented the Junior B’s who went very close in their championship final, the under 14’s who narrowly lost the Dublin Feile na nGael final and the intermediates who lost out by two points in semi final to the eventual county champions. He thanked all the players and management teams for their input.
As regards the future direction of adult hurling the chairman welcomed the debate that had taken place and urged people to come forward with specific detailed proposals. He said development and the structuring of the club were issues that would also likely become prominent in the coming year.
During the meeting a presentation was made to retiring Communications Officer Diarmuid O’Gallchobhair. The chairman noted that Diarmuid’s greatest legacy would be the splendid Kilmacud Crokes Hurling website (www.kilmacudcrokes.com/hurling) for which Diarmuid had been the greatest driver. He also thanked Diarmuid and family for their magnificent photographic and video coverage of games which in time would prove a huge bonus for historians and a valuable record for the club.
Club chairman Michael Garry then addressed the meeting and complimented the hurlers on their fine year.
