Week Ending 9th May 2010
On an action packed Saturday 8th May 2010 there were six games down for decision. Four wins, a walkover and one defeat was the outcome.
Pride of place goes to the seniors who got their championship campaign back on track with a 1-10 to 1-8 win over Faughs in the evening throw in at Silvepark. Crokes raced into an early 1-2 to 0-0 lead. Faughs fought back and it was 1-5 to 0-4 at the tea break. The second half was hard fought. Crokes initially went five clear. The Tymon outfit brought it down to the minimum, 1-7 to 1-6, coming up to the three quarter mark. Two Barry O’Rorke overs were equaled by the visitors and it took a sixtieth minute point from Donal McGovern to conclude the scoring at 1-10 to 1-8. For report and photos see HERE
The under 16’s were also at Silverpark 1 earlier in the sunny afternoon. There was a strong cross field wind as they took on Lucan Sarsfields in league Division 1. An early Barry Horan goal seemed to signal the equivalent of a stroll in the park but, though Crokes were dominant throughout, they could have troubled the scorekeeper more. At the break it was 2-5 to 0-4. In the second period the Kilmacud team added six points to the West Dublin side’s three. Final score 2-11 to 0-7 with Conor Sweeny, Andrew Colclough, Mark Collins, Philip O’Shea, Robert Murphy, Conor O’Dwyer, Cian Gormley and CJ O’Dwyer to the fore.
Team:
C Sweeny, M Collins, D Corish, A Colclough, P O’Shea, R Murphy, J Murphy, C Devins, C O’Dwyer, C Conway (0-7, f-6), C Gormley (0-1), T Barry (0-1), N Gorey (1-0), B Horan (1-0), CJ O’Dywer (0-1). Subs M Herlihy (0-1) for N Gorey, M McNicholas for C Gormley, P Finlay for M Collins and M Collins for D Corish.

The under 14A’s had to travel for their first division tie with Ballyboden. The trip proved worthwhile with a 3-10 to 1-6 win. The Kilmacud boys were well on top and missed several opportunities. The interval score was 1-6 to 0-2 for the winners. Stars included Eamonn Allen, Mark McCallion, Sean Crowe, Conor Gowing and Alex Considine
Both Division 1 under 13 teams were in action. Kilmacud Crokes A had a 10-7 to 4-5 away win over Lucan while Kilmacud Crokes B had to yield second best to St Vincents, 8-7 to 2-4. The Division 5 team received a walkover from Trinity Gaels.
Sunday 9th May featured one game when the under 15’s lined out against Na Fianna at Silverpark. The first half was well contested with Crokes finishing 0-10 to 1-3 ahead thanks in large measure to the long range accuracy of Cian MacGabhann and the point taking of Ciaran McIntyre. The second half was more one way traffic as the homesters took the league Division 1 points by 2-14 to 1-7.
On Wednesday night 5th May 2010 five Kilmacud Crokes hurling teams took the field. In their opening game in the 2010 championship the seniors lost out to Ballyboden at Pairc Ui Mhurchu by 2-23 to 1-15. At half time Boden led 0-14 to 0-5.

The Junior A's overcame Castleknock 2-16 to 2-12 at Silverpark and now stand at two points from two games. The under 14B's continued their Feile preparations with an away challenge against a combined under14/15 Rathoath, Co Meath team. The under 12’s were unable to match a strong Na Fianna side in an away league Division 1 clash.

La na gClub
Following on from the success of 2009 the GAA designated Sunday May 9th 2010 as the second Lá na gClub. For this reason the day was kept fixture free to allow clubs organise their own events.
Kilmacud Crokes Hurling ran a most enjoyable and very well supported Festival of Hurling/Internal Sevens open to current and ex-Hurlers and Camogie players from U16 upwards. Games started at 1.30pm in Glenalbyn. Eight teams participated and the final was contested by Waterford and Dublin with the honours going to the Decies team, 4-9 to 2-8.
Well done to organiser Colm Maher and his work group and many thanks to Peter Walsh and Orpen Franks Solicitors for sponsoring the tee-shirts.
