U15A Hurlers overcome St Vincent's to claim the Féile title

All roads led to Parnell Park on the Sunday the 12th of May as the Kilmacud Crokes U-15 A Hurlers took on St Vincent's in the Dublin Féile County Final.

Having put together a successful winning run - away to Lucan and Boden - Crokes faced a Vincent's team who had beaten them in the round robin. However, the lads were going to make sure that history wasn't going to repeat itself.

After a tentative opening 10 minutes, with both side swapping points, Crokes started to get a foothold in the game, opening up a 0-7 to 0-2 lead. Ferocious hard work, running off the ball and heads up hurling instilled by Bill O'Carroll, saw the lads hit their stride. Vincent's however managed to score a goal with half time approaching. Crokes, with no sense of panic, raced up the pitch to send Brian Farrell clear to dispatch a beautiful score into the back of the Vincent's net. Soon after Joey Davey found himself an acute angle just before the break to further extend the Crokes lead. At half time the score line read 2-11 to 1-02.

As a team they knew the next 15 minutes would be a battle and so it proved to be, with ball raining down on the Kilmacud backs. However, led by the steady hand of Jack Quinlan at full back, the backs as a unit stood up to the test. Points by Michael Byrne, Louis Robinson and the dependable Tom O'Halloran on frees made sure the scoreboard was ticking over. Bodies were tiring and subs were needed and with the game ticking toward full time, Paddy Whelan, with a sidestep that would grace any rugby ground, dispatched a goal to send the Crokes travelling support wild!! Final Score Kilmacud Crokes 3-15 St Vincents 1-08.

Captain Fantastic Deimhne Murphy collected the cup on behalf of the team and gave a speech we can all be proud of.

All lads gave their all across the pitch, with the occasion not phasing them one bit. A special mention to Tomas McBarron, who went through a power of work in midfield.

Next stop is Wexford on the 22 of June, for the All Ireland Féile, where the lads will try and match the feat of Bill O'Carroll in 2005, in bringing an All Ireland trophy back to the club

Scorers: Tom O'Halloran 0-6, Louis Robinson 0-4, Joey Davy 1-1, Brian Farrell 1-1, Paddy Whelan 1-0, Kyle Franklin 0-1, Ethan Verling 0-1, Michael Byrne 0-1.
