Club Members Update
Members Update
We hope this update finds all our members and their families staying safe and well during the current virus pandemic. What a fantastic weekend we have recently witnessed in our club on the weekend before last. Over 2000 members out in the Purple and Gold walking ,running, cycling and swimming over 25000 KM’s and donating 44K euro in support of our 3 selected charities Pieta House, Breast Cancer Ireland and Laura Lynn Children’s Hospice. It was fantastic to see our club community and colours on display in such numbers. See more on this great club weekend on the club Facebook page or on the web site at https://kilmacudcrokes.com/club/coast-crokes-25508km-travelled-%E2%82%AC... - Thank You for your support and donations.
We wanted to also take this opportunity to provide you with a quick update on a few matters as the club activity remains restricted under GAA directive in line with the governments phased lifting of the lockdown.
This week would have been the 1st week of the Mini All Irelands but with the current restrictions remaining in place, they have had to be cancelled for this year.
At a National GAA level, progress has been made in re-configuring the 2020 GAA Kelloggs’ Cúl Camps and subject to the country moving onto the next phase of its recovery, the GAA will provide more details about this initiative. We will in turn update members.
The club facilities remain closed and we would ask for members continued support in not accessing any of the playing facilities during this time.
Like the majority of sporting organisations in Ireland, our club is facing continued financial pressure. During 2020 to date our only source of income has been membership subscriptions. Having already being impacted by the loss of many of our traditional revenue streams, the Executive are actively looking at alternative income sources going forward to ensure the necessary resources are available to support our playing sections on the resumption of games. Some of this expenditure will already have been incurred in the earlier part of the year when we spend most on pitch rentals and we continue to maintain our pitches and facilities as we look forward to a return to usage as soon as guidelines allow.
We are making every effort to advance the Park De Burca development program while activity is being restricted ( training / games) but we are in the hands of external factors including contractor availability etc. We will provide a further update to members as information comes available.
As a club, we are all in this together. The fantastic CoastForCrokes event showed this to be true as does the continued support being provided by our members for Community Call Initiative. Continued thanks to all our members involved.
Ni Neart go Chur le Cheile.
