The Crankys are Kilmacud Crokes Dads n' Lads team who currently play in the paddock on a Friday evening at 7.45pm, The games are enjoyable and vital for our underage coaches to learn what it is like to play for Kilmacud Crokes.

They recently played in an Erins Isle tournament which raised €1,000 for charity.

Two Crankys played in the AFL11 championship on Friday night as a warm up for the all day tournament. And borrowed the figure hugging jerseys. Turns out, the larger numbers are not, in fact, larger.

The massed panel gathered in the early hours of Saturday morning for the cross Liffey expedition, arriving in ample time to see the age old traditional Junior football warm up of a coffee and a cigarette.

Isles also had a mothers and others tournament on the go, although, their warm up seemed to involved some black magic called Zumba and loud music.

Two groups of four teams battled it out over four and a half hours of competitive, but some times slow motion action. It was all about making new acquaintances and old rivalries. No ambulances were required following the getting to know you phase.

After competitive battles with Donaghmore, Erin's Isle and Celbridge, Kilmacud just lost out to the second isles' team in the final.

The overall winners were the Brogans. Well, the dancing with the stars Brogan inspired Oliver Plunketts Eoghan Ruadh team.

Player ratings

L to R back row:

Simon, full back, 10, stunning performances, sound at the back and scorching forward runs.

Ronan, 10, midfield on Friday in the championship and again Saturday. The Lillywhite county player stormed through the day.

Tadhg, 10, Kerry sharpshooter, shot his way through the day. Responsible and dynamic throughout.

Neil, 10, leader from the line and corner back, perfection in distribution and "throwing a dirty look".

Robbie, 11, keeper, the 59 year old even saved a point.Said he was "tired", before the tournament after Friday night, not because if the championship but the drinking after it.

L to R front row:

Darren, another of the shooters, effortlessly played box to box. Although any more than a seven and a half minute final half, may have necessitated resuscitation.

Coyler, 10, scoring machine across three counties, the Fermanagh Native operated with only one leg after a foreign games injury, but only needs 1. Went home with both of his balls.

Rory, 10, another end to end player, seems there was a tournament rule the end to end players had to wear black shorts.

Martin, 10, reminded us what a great manager he has been, the type that steps up to fill the gap when players let you down, stunningly capable corner back.

Donal, 10, some time hurler, one time senior footballer, the half century man shames 35 year Olds with his mobility and handling.

Michael, 10, cunningly capable where taking points or taking up position in the backline. Another of the Kerry Cranky natives.

For Ben, a Ten. A member of the AFL8 "Galacticos" panel, Ben showed why they successfully manage their league position. Great handling, aggression, probably our player of the tournament, apart from the other 11.
